Fighting Scots Prep for Nationals with Three Wins in Canada

Box Score (New/Sortable Format) EDINBORO, Pa. – The Edinboro wheelchair basketball team traveled north of the border four games over the weekend. Head coach Jim Glatch's Fighting Scots swept of pair of games on Saturday vs. Toronto D2 by scores of 35-20 and 47-28. On Sunday, the Fighting Scots split a pair of contests, losing the opener to Toronto D1 57-35 before coming back with a 40-27 win over Toronto D2 in the nightcap.
Edinboro improved to 17-16 on the season. The Fighting Scots will wrap up the 2017-18 campaign this week, competing in the 41st Annual NIWBT Championships hosted by Southwest Minnesota State. The Fighting Scots go in as the fifth seed and play Missouri in the first round on Thursday, March 15.
 
EDINBORO 35, TORONTO D2 20
The Fighting Scots won a defensive struggle as they limited Toronto D2 to just 10 baskets in 50 attempts. Edinboro wasn't much better at 35.4 percent (), but the Fighting Scots held a 37-24 rebounding edge and forced 17 turnovers while committing just eight. Kevin Atherley led all scorers with 16 points, making 8-of-15 shots. He added nine rebounds, four steals and a pair of blocked shots.

EDINBORO 47, TORONTO D2 38
Edinboro roared back after trailing 12-4 after one quarter. The Fighting Scots closed the gap to 21-15 at the half, then outscored Toronto D2 18-0 in the third quarter. Chayse Wolfe led Edinboro with 16 points, seven assists, six rebounds and four steals. Alex Saleh had 10 points and nine rebounds, while Kevin Atherley totaled eight points, 10 boards, five assists and three steals.  Edinboro held Toronto D2 to 32.7 percent from the floor (17-of-52). The Fighting Scots made 21-of-46 shots (45.7 pct.)

TORONTO D1 57, EDINBORO 35
Toronto D1 jumped out to a 16-10 lead after one quarter, then outscored the Fighting Scots 15-8 in the second quarter and 16-7 in the third to lead 47-25 after three quarters. Edinboro shot 32.6 percent (14-of-43) for the game while Toronto D1 came in at 45.2 percent (28-of-62. The Fighting Scots were outrebounded 39-20. Chayse Wolfe made 6-of-15 field goals and 4-of-5 free throws to finish with 16 points, adding five assists. CorRales Dupree added six points.

EDINBORO 40, TORONTO D2 27
The Fighting Scots jumped out to a 16-4 lead after one quarter and turned in a strong defensive effort. They held Toronto D2 to 12-of-43 from the field (27.9 pct.). Edinboro, meanwhile, shot 45.5 percent from the floor (20-pf-44). After getting dominated on the glass in the first game, the rebounding battle was even at 24-24. The Scots had three players score 10 points, with Chayse Wolfe totaling 10 points, seven rebounds, seven assists, and three steals. CorRales Dupree made 5-of-6 shots to finish with 10 points,
while Alex Saleh also had 10 points.
