Fighting Scots Wrap Up 2019 Portion of Schedule on Day Two at Missouri Tournament

Will Speed scored a season-high 11 points vs. Southwest Minnesota State.
COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Edinboro wheelchair basketball team wrapped up play in the Missouri tournament with a pair of losses on Saturday. The Fighting Scots suffered a 70-44 setback to Southwest Minnesota State in the first contest, then came back to push Arizona before falling 69-50.

Edinboro is now 5-8 on the season. Head coach Jim Glatch's squad will break for the holidays before returning on January 10-12 at the NRH Invitational in Washington, DC.  

SOUTHWEST MINNESOTA STATE 70, EDINBORO 44
The Fighting Scots played the Mustangs on even terms over the final 20 minutes. Unfortunately, Edinboro found itself trailing 35-14 at the half as the ran off 21 straight points to talk control of the contest. The hot-shooting Mustangs ended the game at 56.1 percent (32-of-57, including 57.1 percent (16-of-28) in the first half. Edinboro was 7-of-21 in the first half (33.3 percent), and would end the game at 36.7 percent (18-of-49). SWMSU also held a 35-21 rebounding advantage. Josiah Knight led the Fighting Scots with 16 points and nine rebounds, while Will Speed contributed a season-high 11 points, along with four assists. Chayse Wolf added eight points, eight rebounds, and seven assists.
 
ARIZONA 69, EDINBORO 50
One day after losing by 38 points to the Wildcats, Edinboro put up a much stiffer fight this second time around. Arizona held a slim four point lead at the half, 38-34. The Fighting Scots rallied from a 12-point deficit to knot the score at 32-32 on a 3-pointer by Chayse Wolf with just over two minutes left in the half.  Arizona would use an early spurt in the second half to hold off the Fighting Scots, scoring the first six points of the half. Wolf had a huge game for the Boro, making 8-of-14 shots, including 2-of-5 3-pointers, and went 4-of-4 at the line to finish with 22 points. He added 14 rebounds and six assists. Josiah Knight added 13 points as the ironman Fighting Scots had just five players. Tyrone Griner (29) and Karl Vares (22) combined for 51 points for Arizona. Edinboro shot 38.5 percent from the floor (20-of-52) and was 7-of-9 at the line. Arizona sizzled at 62.3 percent (33-of-53), and went 2-of-8 at the line. The Wildcats held a 32-19 rebounding edge.
