Edinboro Seeded Fifth Heading into 42nd Annual NIWBT National Championships

EDINBORO, Pa. – The Edinboro University wheelchair basketball team will head into the 42nd Annual NIWBT National Championships as the fifth seed. The national championships will take place on Thursday, March 14 to Saturday, March 16 at the University of Illinois.
 
The Fighting Scots come into Nationals with an 18-15 record and will face fourth-seeded Missouri in the nine-team tournament. That contest is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. Head coach Jim Glatch's squad looks to improve on last year's fifth place finish. Edinboro and Missouri have met three times this year, with the Tigers winning all three by scores of 61-48, 52-49, and 63-47.
 
Wisconsin-Whitewater is the number one seed and will face the winner of the Auburn (eighth seed) and Nebraska-Omaha (ninth seed) contest. The winner of the Edinboro-Missouri game will then meet that winner in the semifinals. Alabama comes in as the number two seed and will face seventh seed Southwest Minnesota State, with third seed Texas-Arlington playing Illinois, the sixth seed, in the other first round game.
 
Edinboro features a trio of double-figures scorers, including 1,000-point scorers Kevin Atherley and Chayse Wolf. Atherley, a senior, leads the Fighting Scots both in scoring (13.0 ppg.) and rebounding (9.1 rpg.). Wolf, a junior, averages 12.1 ppg. and 7.0 rpg. along with a team-high 195 assists. Jacob Spillers has enjoy an outstanding freshman season, averaging 12.0 ppg. and 3.9 rpg.
