Wolf Has Monster Final Game but Boro Rally Comes Up Short

Stephanie Glatch had 10 points vs. Southwest Minnesota State.
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Edinboro wheelchair basketball team dropped both of its contests on Saturday in the University of Illinois Tournament to fall to 5-21. Following a 64-36 loss to the host Illini, the Fighting Scots gave head coach Jim Glatch great hope for the rest of the season with a rally that came up just short against Southwest Minnesota State. The Fighting Scots would fall 62-51.

ILLINOIS 64, EDINBORO 36
The Fighting Scots trailed just 28-20 at the half, rallying from a 15-point deficit at 21-6 to pull to within 24-18 thanks to a 12-3 run. Stephanie paced the run with four points. Unfortunately, the Illini would open the second half with a 13-2 run to break the game open at 41-22 midway through the half. Edinboro shot 32.6 percent for the game (15-of-46), while Illinois ended the game at just under 50 percent, but made 17-of-29 shots (58.6 pct.) in the second half. The Illini also held a 38-21 advantage in rebounds. Chayse Wolfe had a double-double, his second of the tournament, with 12 points and 10 assists, adding seven rebounds. Josiah Knight scored 10 points, had seven rebounds, and four steals. Will Speed contributed six points.

SOUTHWEST MINNESOTA STATE 62, EDINBORO 51
A big second-half rally would come up short as lost for the second time on Saturday. The Fighting Scots trailed 35-16 at the half as SWMSU shot a sizzling 75.0 percent from the floor (15-of-20) while holding Edinboro to 23.3 percent (7-of-30). Trailing 35-16 at intermission, the Fighting Scots would see the deficit grow to 21 points before an 11-2 run got the Scots to within 47-35 with 12 minutes left. Chayse Wolf scored all 11 points, starting out with a pair of 3-pointers. Edinboro eventually pulled to within five points at 56-51 with 3:54 remaining on a Kory Stokes' basket. Unfortunately, that was the last basket Edinboro would score, as SWMSU scored the final six points of the game while Edinboro missed its final seven shots. Wolf had a huge second half with 23 points and 13 rebounds, and would end the game with 28 points and 16 boards. He made 11-of-20 field goals, including 4-of-9 3-pointers, and was 2-of-5 at the line. He also had five assists. It was his third double-double in the four games. Stephanie Glatch was also in double figures with 10 points.
