North Canton, Ohio – After a pair of wins at home, the Edinboro women's basketball team makes their first road trip of the season Saturday with a visit to Walsh University for a 1 p.m. tip against the Cavaliers.
Last Time Out
The Fighting Scots topped 77-72 victory over Davis & Elkins on Wednesday night.
Ashten Boggs led Edinboro with a game-high 24 points. Haley Sims tallied 19 points while
Emma Elash scored 16.
Edinboro built and 18-point lead early in the third, but the Senators battled back with a 17-0 run over the last 6:23 to pull within one. The Scots never relinquished the lead using strong defense and good free throw shooting down the stretch to hold on for the win.
New Faces
Without a 2019-20 season, Edinboro has a lot of new faces playing significant minutes. The Scots top three scorers through two games are all freshmen. Haley Sims leads the team with 21.5 points per game to go with 5.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists.
Ashten Boggs adds 18.0 points and 7.0 rebounds per contest.
Gillian Fisher adds 9.0 points and a team-best 10.0 rebounds per contest.
Winning the Turnover Battle
The Fighting Scots are a +11 in turnover margin on the season. Edinboro is averaging 18.5 points per game while forcing 21.5 turnovers per contest.
It's Been a While
Edinboro will make their first road trip since traveling to Erie, Pa. to take on Gannon in the PSAC Quarterfinals on March 4, 2020.
The Fighting Scots haven't played a non-PSAC opponent on the road since Dec. 8, 2019 against Cheyney a span of 713 days.
Scouting the Cavaliers
Walsh opened the season splitting a pair of games at the G-MAC /GLIAC Crossover. They opened the season with an 80-64 victory over Ferris State and then dropped an 82-64 decision to host Wayne State.
The Cavaliers average 72.0 points per contest and are being outrebounded by an average of 9.5 per contest.
Sha Carter leads the Walsh offense with 21.0 points per game while also pulling down 6.5 rebounds per game. Mayci Sales is averaging a double-double with 18.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per contest.
