Edinboro heads to Elmira to take on Eagles in non-conference game

EDINBORO, Pa. - The Edinboro Fighting Scots lacrosse team has waited almost a month for their next opportunity to play a game.This opportunity has finally come against Elmira College of the Empire Eight Conference and NCAA Division III as Edinboro travels to New York for a Monday afternoon game scheduled for 3:00 p.m.

Edinboro (0-1) last competed against fellow PSAC institution, Slippery Rock, and were able to show some great flashes of what they are capable of as a team back on March 23.. Overall, the team has had five goal scorers, including senior Sophie DePalma (Rochester, NY/Aquinas Institute) who recorded a hat trick against The Rock while also adding an assist. DePalma comes into action Monday just ten points shy of 100 for her career with the Fighting Scots.

Gionna Alessandro (North Huntington, PA/Norwin), Angelina Anderson (Shoreham, NY/Shoreham Wading River), Kandyce Graham (Shaker Heights, Ohio/Shaker Heights), and Maddie Mulcahy (Rochester, NY/East Rochester) each added one goal so far this season. In goal, Christina Clutter (Amity, PA/Trinity) picked up 20saves while Kaitlyn Binotto (Canonsburg, PA/Seton-La Salle) added four of her own against Slippery Rock.

As for Elmira, this is the first time the Eagles and the Fighting Scots have competed in a women's lacrosse match in the history of the programs. Elmira comes into action 3-2 on the year and features four players with double-digit point totals so far through five games.

Their leading scorer is Emily Ferguson who has scored 22 goals and dished out five assists so far this season. Not far behind her with 13 goals and nine assists is Kendra Heath. Kari Jensen has found the back of the net seven times while dishing out four assists so far on the campaign. Catrina Dinehart has scored five goals and dished out five assists so far this season for the Eagles.
