Edinboro, Pa. -- The Edinboro women's basketball team opens the 2022-23 season at home with contests against Notre Dame College and Salem University Friday and Saturday at McComb Fieldhouse.
The Games
On Friday, the Scots will take on Notre Dame College at 5:30 p.m. and will take on Salem University on Saturday at 4 p.m.
Preseason Poll
The Fighting Scots were selected third in the PSAC West Preseason Coaches Poll with a strong mix of experience and newcomers. Edinboro advanced the PSAC Quarterfinals a season ago.
Returning Experience
Rana Elhusseini returns to trigger the Scot offense after earning All-PSAC West First-Team honors in 2021-22. Elhusseini averaged 12.5 points per game and led the Scots with 108 assists.
Hayley Sims also averaged 12.5 points per game to go with her 4.2 rebounds per game.
Bella Burrelli just missed a double-double average with 9.1 points and 8.6 rebounds per contest.
Edinboro brings back their five leading scorers and seven of their top eight.
Home Court Advantage
The Scots were on of the best home teams in the PSAC last season posting a record of 10-3 at McComb Fieldhouse.
Scouting the Falcons
Notre Dame posted a record of 15-14 overall and 13-9 in the Mountain East last season. The Falcons return leading scorer Alana Ellis who finished last year with 14.9 points per game. Lilee Carlson also averaged double figures last season at 11.0 points per game.
Scouting the Tigers
Salem finished 2021-22 with a 6-13 overall record. The Tigers also return their leading scorer in Daniela Quesada who averaged 14.6 points per game. Nerea Aramarri Fernandez is also back bringing her 12.2 points per game with her.
