Volleyball Preps for Weekend on the Road

Edinboro Pa. -- The Edinboro volleyball team will travel to PSAC West opponents Seton Hill and California (Pa.) this weekend as conference play continues. The Scots will visit the Griffins on Friday (Sept. 30) at 7 pm along with the Vulcans on Saturday (Oct. 1) at 2 pm.  

The Fighting Scots 

  • Edinboro enters the weekend with a (12-4) overall record and (2-2) in PSAC play 

  • Last week the Scots went (1-1) in their home stand as they welcomed Mercyhurst and Gannon into McComb Fieldhouse 

  • The Scots stand in fourth place out of the West as they trail behind IUP, Gannon and top seed Clarion 

  • Edinboro's effort up on the net has been one of the keys to success this season as they have produced 109 blocks (1.95 per set) 

  • Sally Sterkel leads Edinboro with 56 blocks on the season (1.00 per set) 

  • Another key ingredient for the Scots has been their ability to halt their opponents' attack with digs, Edinboro is fourth in the PSAC with nearly 17 digs per set 

  • Edinboro's dig leader Carly Pry ranks among the top five in the conference with 4.66 digs per set 

  • Edinboro's offensive attack has sustained nearly 12 kills per set and is ranked fifth in the PSAC 

  • Bella Burrelli leads the Scots with 162 kills (2.89 per set) on a (.140) clip 

  • The foundation of Edinboro's attack begins with setter Alicia Eldredge 

  • With 491 assists (8.77 per set) Eldredge is responsible for 80% of the Scot's assists this season 

The Griffins

  • Seton Hill is a member of the PSAC West and is led by head coach Rick Hall 

  • The Griffins come into the match with a (10-5) overall record and (1-3) in PSAC play 

  • Seton Hill has dropped three of their last four matches with their last win coming against Mercyhurst in three sets 

  • The Griffins are ranked fourth in opponent hitting percentage (.125) 

  • Paige Cole leads Seton Hill with 180 kills (3.33 per set) 

  • Mariela Alvarado leads the Griffins with 170 digs (3.04 per set) 

The Vulcans

  • Cal is a member of the PSAC West and is led by head coach Peter Letourneau 

  • The Vulcans come into the match with a (7-6) overall record and (1-3) in PSAC play 

  • Cal has dropped three of their last four matches with their last win coming against Pitt-Johnstown in three sets 

  • The Vulcans rank third in the PSAC for service aces with 46 on the season (2.48 per set) 

  • Kaylin Burkey leads Cal with 108 kills (2.45 per set) 

  • Emily Buwawa leads the Vulcans with 122 digs (2.98 per set)
