Women’s Basketball Continues PSAC West Play at California

California, Pa. – The Edinboro women's basketball team looks to get back in the win column when they travel to California Wednesday night. Tip is slated for 5:30 p.m.
 
Last Time Out
The Fighting Scots dropped a 93-82 decision to Shippensburg Saturday snapping a five game-winning streak. Rana Elhusseini netted a career-high 33 points to go with seven rebounds, five assists and one steal. Hayley Sims chipped in 15 points and four boards. Gillian Fisher had a strong defensive night blocking six shots the most since Ciara Rosten blocked seven shots on Feb. 7, 2018.
 
Honor Roll
Elhusseini was named the PSAC West Athlete of the Week as the Scots went 2-1 in PSAC play. She averaged 25.0 points and 5.3 rebounds per game over three PSAC games. She also averaged 3.0 assists adn 2.6 steals per outing. Her 33 points on Saturday against Shippensburg set a career-high. Her 19.8 points per game ranks 16th in the country and second in the PSAC and is the best mark in the West. 
 
Forcing Turnovers
Edinboro ranks second in Division II forcing 28.4 turnovers per game behind only Glenville State at 29.0. The Scots are fourth in nation in steals at 14.9 per contest. Elhusseini currently ranks seventh in the nation and atop the PSAC in steals per game at 3.25. Edinboro ranks third in the country in turnover margin with a +11.1.
 
Beyond the Arc
The Scots are one of the nations most prolific 3-point shooting teams. Edinboro attempts 30.0 triples per game ranking fifth in the nation and hit an average of 9.8 per contest which ranks sixth in D-II. Elhusseini is seventh in the country in 3-pointers per game at 3.1 per contest. Sims ranks 59th in the country at 2.42 per outing.
 
Scouting the Vulcans
California comes in with a 9-4 overall record and 5-2 in the PSAC West after defeating Slippery Rock 63-52 on Saturday. The Vulcans have won five straight and average 66.1 while holding opponents 60.1 points per game.
 
Rajah Fink has paced the Cal offense with 15.2 points per game. She also adds 10.5 boards per contest. Ciaira Loyd also averages double figure scoring with 13.7 points per game while Halle Herrington chips in 11.2.
