Women’s Basketball Travels to Mercyhurst on Wednesday

Edinboro, Pa. – The Edinboro makes the trip to Eire on Wednesday for a 5:30 p.m. tip off against Mercyhurst in PSAC West action.
 
Last Time Out
On Friday, the Fighting Scots pushed their winning streak to four games with an 85-70 victory over Bloomsburg. Edinboro forced 35 Husky turnovers while turning the ball over just 15 times.
 
Rana Elhusseini posted a season-high 29 points to go with six steals and four rebounds. Hayley Sims added 14 points and three boards while Morgan Gentile tallied 11 points.
 
Turnovers
The Fighting Scots lead Division II in turnovers forced per game at 30.4. They are also the nation's top team in turnover margin at +12.9.  As a team, Edinboro ranks third in the country in steals per game with 16.4 just being Glenville State and Minnesota State at 16.6.
 
Junior point guard Rana Elhusseini has led the Scots defensive effort ranking second in the country in steal per game at 3.7 per contest recording six against Bloomsburg on Friday.
 
The Wednesday matchup with be strength vs strength as the Lakers average the fewest turnovers per game in the PSAC at 15.2.
 
Defense to Offense
Edinboro has successfully used their defense to lead to offense. The Scots average 30.2 points per game off of turnovers.
 
The Edinboro offense averages 79.7 points per game the top mark in the PSAC and rank 10th in all of Division II.
 
The Scots have a pair of scorers in the Top 10 in the PSAC in Elhusseini and Sims. Elhusseini averages 19.2 points per game ranking second in the conference while Sims is ninth at 16.3 points per contest.
 
Behind the Arc
The Fighting Scots rank fifth in the nation in 3-pointers attempted per game at 29.6 per contest. They are 10th in D-II in triples made per game at 9.4 both marks top the PSAC. Edinboro is shooting 31.8 percent from long range the sixth best mark in the PSAC.
 
Elhusseini leads the team with 29 treys and is hitting 39.2 percent of her attempts. Sims adds 25 threes while Macie Jarrett has hit 14. Seven Fighting Scots have hit at least five 3-pointers.
 
Offensive Glass
Despite being 257th in the nation in rebounding margin at -6.4 per game and 277th in defensive rebounds the Fighting Scots have been strong on the offensive glass. Edinboro ranks 65th in the country and sixth in the PSAC with 13.6 offensive rebounds per outing.
 
Six different Fighting Scots have 10 or more offensive rebounds on the season. Elhusseini and Ashten Boggs each have 18 offensive boards to lead Edinboro. Gentile and Bailie Brinson each add 12.

Scouting the Lakers
Coming off an 86-43 victory over Mansfield on Friday, Mercyhurst has run their record to 7-3 overall and 3-2 in PSAC play.
 
The Lakers rank second in the PSAC in scoring at 79.5 points per game while allowing 68.9 points per game. Mercyhurst is highly efficient offensively leading the PSAC in field goal percentage at 44.5 and are second in the PSAC in 3-point field goal percentage at 39.6.
 
Julia Buchman is the Lakers leading scorer averaging 11.5 points per game. Grace Centrulla and Jayde Boyd are also averaging double-figure scoring at 11.4 and 10.2 points respectively.
 
Centrulla is the Lakers leading rebounder at 5.8 boards per contest. Danielle Grim and Paige Woodford each have 26 helpers on the season.
