Edinboro, Pa. – The Edinboro wheelchair basketball team begins the 2023-24 campaign at the Boro Shootout Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday Games
The Scots will take on Rochester at 9:45 a.m., London at 1:15 p.m., and Michigan at 4:45 on McComb's main floor.
First Competition
The Scots are back in action for the first time at 9:45 a.m. inside McComb Fieldhouse. "The level of excitement is very high," said head coach
Jim Glatch. "Our team has worked hard and Wednesday's scrimmage saw the highest energy level I have seen in a team since pre-Covid. This last practice's tempo and intensity was at game level, which is what I want going into the first tournament. We had a few tempers flare, but this was a positive as it only gave the freshman a glimpse of how much energy is needed to compete at this level."
Returning Experience
The Scots bring back second-team All-American
Jeremy Evans as well as All-Rookie selections
Elijah Yoder and
William Oberg. "The returning players understand what it will take to be successful this season," said Glatch. "Once again, Jeremy, Elijah, and Isaiah stayed around Edinboro to focus in on off season conditioning. Through the summer they would touch base with their teammates to make sure everyone was getting ready for the upcoming season. All 3 came in totally focused on what we need to do to be successful and each practice they have shared that with the returning players and incoming freshman."
Home Cooking
"To open the season in front of family and friends is always an awesome experience," said Glatch. "Our team has been getting the word out about this weekend on and off campus. The hope is that we will have some big crowds."
