Wheelchair Basketball Returns to Action at Whitewater

Whitewater, Wisc. – The Edinboro wheelchair basketball team is back in action this weekend with a trip to Whitewater, Wisc. for a pair of doubleheaders.

Last Time Out
The Scots opened the season 4-1 overall after five contests at the Boro Shootout on Nov. 4 and 5. After opening the season 3-0 on the first day, the Scots topped Michigan 59-31 before falling to the Pittsburgh Steelwheelers 51-47.

"We have focused on our defense and transition game after the opening weekend," said head coach Jim Glatch. "While our opening weekend scores make it look like we played well in those areas, there were too many holes in our defense. The transition game was successful in the openers, but we will have to make quicker decisions so we can set up our half-court offense."

On the Road
"We have tried to keep our preparation similar to when we are at home," said Glatch. "For this weekend we did add practices in the dome. The courts for this weekend will be a harder rubber than the dome, but having the guys push, pass and shoot in the dome it should give us a good feel for what we will experience in Whitewater."

The Games
The Scots open the weekend with a 9 a.m. contest with CUNY on Friday. They will come back and play Southwest Minnesota State at 1 p.m. On Saturday, Edinboro takes on Arizona at 9 a.m. and host Wisconsin-Whitewater at 11 a.m.

"We have tried to stay focused on just our next opponent and not to look at all four teams that we have to play," Glatch said. "Playing well against CUNY and earning a win would be a great start. Last year, we played them tough in all our matchups, but fell short. A win in that first game would set the tone for a successful tournament.
