Edinboro, Pa. – The Edinboro women's basketball team will open the PSAC postseason at McComb Fieldhouse when they host Seton Hill at 6 p.m. Monday.
Last Time Out
The Fighting Scots turned in a team defensive effort earning a 72-34 victory over Clarion. The Fighting Scots defense held Clarion to single digit scoring in three of the four quarters and held the Golden Eagles without a 3-point field goal. The last time Edinboro held an opponent without a triple was Dec. 4, 2016 against West Chester. The Scots forced 22 Clarion turnovers and turned those into 27 points.
Edinboro outrebounded Clarion 49-28 including getting 18 offensive rebounds
. Bailie Brinson pulled down eight offensive boards and 10 rebounds total to lead the Scots. She also tallied seven points.
Gillian Fisher led the offensive effort just missing a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds.
Hayley Sims tallied 11 points and
Rana Elhusseini finished with 10. Edinboro picked up contributions up and down the lineup with 11 different Scots scoring on the afternoon.
The Season Series
The Scots and Griffins split their season series with each team winning on the road. In the most recent contest on Feb. 8, Edinboro claimed a 101-99 double overtime victory behind a career-high 38 points from
Rana Elhusseini. Seton Hill won the teams first meeting on Jan. 14 by a score of 83-77.
Forcing Turnovers
Edinboro finished the regular season as the top team in the PSAC and ninth in the nation forcing 22.63 turnovers per game. The Scots rank 19
th in the country and first in the PSAC with 11.5 steals per contest. They also post a +6.63 turnover margin to lead the PSAC and rank 13
th in DII. Elhusseini leads the PSAC with 2.52 steals per game.
Scoring Touch
Edinboro averages 73.7 points per game the to mark in the PSAC and 26
th best in the nation. Elhusseini is the Scots leading scorer at 18.4 points per game ranking third in the PSAC.
Hayley Sims adds 15.4 points per game ranking 11
th in the conference.
Scouting the Griffins
Seton Hill averages 70.0 points per game and are allowing 65.1 points per contest. They are outrebounding opponents by 1.9 per outing.
Christiane Frye leads the Griffins at 15.8 points per game. Ali Seto adds 13.1 points per game. Sakeria Haralson is the leading rebounder for Seton Hill at 7.6 per game.
