Women’s Basketball Travels to Cal for PSAC Quarterfinals

California, Pa. – The Edinboro women's basketball team makes the trip to California on Wednesday for a 6 p.m. contest with the Vulcans in the PSAC Quarterfinals.
 
Last Time Out
Five different Fighting Scots scored in double figures as Edinboro topped visiting Seton Hill 79-61 on Monday night in the PSAC Opening Rounds.
 
Edinboro shot 53.6 percent from the field and 41.2 from 3-point range. Rana Elhusseini lead all scorers with 23 points to go with six assists and five rebounds. Gillian Fisher added 14 points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals. Bella Burrelli added 13 points to go with eight rebounds. Lauren Mullen was 5-of-6 from the field and 2-of-2 from three for 12 points and Hayley Sims tallied 11 and a team-high nine boards.
 
Season Series
The two teams split the season series with both teams defending their home court. Cal scored a 69-59 victory on Jan. 11 while Edinboro picked up an 83-77 win on Feb. 4. In the latest matchup, Elhusseini and Sims each tallied 18 points and Ashten Boggs added 11.
 
Forcing Turnovers
Edinboro finished the regular season as the top team in the PSAC and ninth in the nation forcing 22.63 turnovers per game. The Scots rank 19th in the country and first in the PSAC with 11.5 steals per contest. They also post a +6.63 turnover margin to lead the PSAC and rank 13th in DII. Elhusseini leads the PSAC with 2.52 steals per game.
 
Scoring Touch
Edinboro averages 73.7 points per game the top mark in the PSAC and 26th best in the nation. Elhusseini is the Scots leading scorer at 18.4 points per game ranking third in the PSAC. Sims adds 15.4 points per game ranking 11th in the conference.
 
Scouting the Vulcans
Cal earned the two-seed with an 88-84 overtime victory over IUP on Saturday. Ciaira Loyd paced the Vulcans with 36 points to go with six assists. Allycia Harris tallied a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds. Rajah Fink also recorded a double-double of 13 points and 15 boards.
 
The Vulcans average 68.2 points per game while allowing 64.0. They hold a +3.2 rebounding margin and a +3.0 turnover margin.
 
Fink leads the offense with 15.3 points per game to go with 10.4 rebounds per contest. Loyd adds 14.4 point per game and has dished out 192 assists.
