Greensburg, Pa. – The Edinboro women's basketball team returns to action on Wednesday with a trip to Greensburg to take on Seton Hill at 5:30 p.m. inside the McKenna Center.
Last Time Out
The Fighting Scots ran their record to 14-7 overall and 11-5 in the PSAC West with an 83-77 victory over California (Pa.) Saturday afternoon.
Rana Elhusseini and
Hayley Sims each tallied 18 points for Edinboro.
Ashten Boggs was the third Scot in double figures with 11.
Wild West
Edinboro currently sits second in the PSAC West with a league record of 11-5 two games back of Gannon at 13-3. Seton Hill is currently tied with IUP and Gannon for fifth at 9-7 just a game back of UPJ for the fourth spot.
Long Range Shooting
Edinboro ranks eighth in the country in 3-point field goal attempts at 27.8 per contest. The Scot hit 8.8 per game ranking 12
th in Division II with both marks leading the PSAC. Elhusseini has been the Scots top 3-point shooter hitting 2.55 per contest the second-best average in the PSAC. Sims adds 2.25 per game the eighth best mark in the conference.
Stealing Possessions
The Fighting Scots defense leads the PSAC and ranks fifth in the country in forcing turnovers at 24.65 per contest. Edinboro also ranks highly in turnover margin ranking seventh in the nation at 7.8. Of those 24 turnovers per game the Scots record 12.7 steals per game the 12
th best mark in D-II. Elhusseini ranks 17
th in the country and first in the PSAC at 2.9 steals per game.
Offensive Glass
Edinboro has a -5.0 rebounding margin on the season and average 24.0 defensive rebounds per game both of which rank 15
th in the PSAC. Where the Scots have excelled has been on the offensive glass where they rank second in the league averaging 13.9 per game.
Scoring the Basketball
On the season, Edinboro averages 75.2 points the second-best mark in the PSAC. Elhusseini currently ranks second in scoring average in the PSAC at 19.6. Sims ranks ninth in the conference at 15.6 points per game.
Scouting the Griffins
Seton Hill ran their record to 19-7 overall and 10-7 in the PSAC West after pulling out a 72-72 victory over Clarion Monday night. Christiane Frye led the team with 22 points including the game-winning basket. Helene Cowan added 16 while Courtney Tomas tallied 14.
The Griffins average 68.5 points per game while holding opponents to 61.9. Seton Hill has a +2.1 rebounding margin and a +0.8 turnover margin.
Frye leads the tam in scoring averaging 15.3 points per game. Alie Seto adds 12.4 points per game and 6.5 rebounds. Hallie Cowan notches 9.2 points per game while Helene Cowan chips in 9.1.
