Wheelchair Basketball Travels to Illinois for Trio of Games

Urbana-Champaign, Ill. – The Edinboro wheelchair basketball team is on the road again this weekend traveling to Illinois for a three game set.

The Games
The Fighting Scots will take on host Illinois on Friday afternoon before playing Wisconsin Whitewater and Auburn on Saturday.

Familiar Faces
Edinboro has seen all three of this weekends opponents earlier this season and hasn't picked up a win in four attempts. The Scots played Illinois and Whitewater on back-to-back days on December 2 & 3, falling 74-15 to the Illini and 69-22 to Warhawks. Edinboro dropped two games to Auburn in Auburn on Dec. 17 & 18 69-11 and 79-28.

"Having the game tape from those earlier matchups is a great educational tool," said head coach Jim Glatch. "We will have to be better in transition both on offense and defense. These three teams have exposed us in those two areas and I think that our players understand why we have our focus here and will be ready for the challenge."

Scoring the Basketball
Jeremy Evans has been the Scots leading scorer posting 14.3 points per game. Isaiah Johnson is the next highest scoring Edinboro player at 6.9 points per contest.

"Jeremy has been expected to be our leading scorer and he has lived up to that," said Glatch. "Isaiah has done a good job all year as our second scorer and he continues to grow. In practice we have taken Jeremy out of our lineup a few times in hope that others will step up their scoring."

From Coach Glatch
On what it will take to be successful
"I really think that we will need to play our best basketball of the season to be successful.  We have had a couple of strong weeks of practice, and I think the team knows what we need to do.  Our biggest issue all season has been doing things in a consistent manner.  During the CUNY weekend the team had moments of excellent basketball but didn't sustain those moments over the course of a 40-minute game, even in our 2 wins.  The focus at practice is being consistent with what and how we approach each possession."
