Edinboro, Pa. – The Fighting Scots enter the weekend 2-1 on the season following back-to-back wins. Most recently defeating Chowan University in double overtime to take a 13-12 result. They travel to Lake Erie College this Saturday at 1 p.m. before opening their home season on Wednesday against Seton Hill at 4 p.m.
Edinboro fought back and forth with Chowan University with both teams holding the lead at different points of the game. Edinboro equalized with 20 seconds left in the fourth quarter to take the game to overtime.
Rylee Jones led the team in goals with five, and also in assists with two. Jones now has 15 goals and six assists so far this season.
Emma Lamica scored the all important equalizer and game winner which gave her four goals alongside one assist. Lamica is second in the points standings with seven goals and two assists.
Traci Culver contributed with three goals and an assist, taking her tally to six goals and three assists.
Caroline Zentis added a goal and an assist which sees her tied with Culver in the points table.
Abigail Juzwick recovered seven ground balls and caused five turnovers, the most by any Edinboro player in a game this season.
Lexi Boyk and Juzwick both have 10 groundballs this season leading the Edinboro defensive efforts.
Lake Erie College currently hold a record of 2-2. They also had a tight contest in their last match which saw them take a 14-13 victory over Felician. Madelyn Goodrich scored seven goals, with Cassidy Bourne tallying eight assists.
Lake Erie allowed three goals in the fourth quarter to trail by 13-12. Similarly to Edinboro they equalized with 21 seconds remaining to force overtime. Madelyn Goodrich scored the winning goal from a Cassidy Bourne assist.
Goodrich has nine goals so far this season, with Shannon Smith just behind with six and two assists. Cassidy Bourne has totaled 11 assists over the four games played.
