Edinboro, Pa. – The Fighting Scots faced Mercyhurst in a game that began in blustery conditions. The end result went the way of the Lakers in a 14-1 result. The game was abandoned early into the fourth quarter as the snow began to make conditions unplayable for both teams.
Mercyhurst took command of the game in the first quarter, setting a score of 8-0 end the end of the first. Edinboro had two attempts in the first but were unable to get them on target.
The second followed a similar pattern with Edinboro unlucky not find the back of the net with three attempts at goal.
Lexi Boyk lead the offense in attempts at goal with three. Boyk drove to the goal on a few occasions but was unable to find a breakthrough.
As the snow began to fall at the start of the third Edinboro found the back of the net through
Rylee Jones, netting her 23
rd goal of the season.
Savannah Fischer recorded another nine saves in goal for the Scots.
As the fourth quarter resumed conditions worsened with strong winds and heavy snowfall. The game was called with 12 minutes remaining.
Next up for Edinboro is a home game at Sox Harrison where they take on the visiting Gannon University. The game is set for a 1 p.m. start on Saturday, April 1.
