Lock Haven, Pa. – The Edinboro women's volleyball team was picked fourth in the PSAC West Preseason Coaches' Poll announced by the conference office Thursday afternoon.
Edinboro finished the 2022 season with a record of 19-10 overall and 9-7 in PSAC West competition. The Scots made the PSAC postseason before falling in the quarterfinals.
The Scots have a balance of returning experience and newcomers for the 2023 season. Edinboro brings back their top two offensive performers in
Bella Burrelli and
Natalie Pallone. Burrelli recorded 319 kills to lead the Scots earning her First-Team All-PSAC West honors. Pallone ranked second on the team with 269 kills.
Defensively, the front line will need to replace their top two blockers in
Sally Sterkel and
Erica Sharp. Pallone ranked third in blocks with 67 while Burrelli chipped in 33.
Carly Pry and her 460 digs return in the libero spot.
The Scots open the season with a trip to Manchester, New Hampshire for the St. Anslem Invitational. The home opener at McComb Fieldhouse is Sept. 15 when Edinboro hosts Bloomsburg. PSAC West play starts on Sept. 19 with a trip to Seton Hill.
Gannon took the top spot in the coaches rankings with seven first-place votes while Clarion was second with a pair of first-place votes. IUP was third just ahead of the Scots. Slippery Rock was tabbed fifth and Seton Hill was sixth. Pitt-Johnstown, California and Mercyhurst rounded out the poll.
