Women’s Basketball Hosts Pair of PSAC Games

Edinboro, Pa. – The Edinboro women's basketball team is set to host two PSAC opponents with crossover action against East Stroudsburg on Wednesday and opening PSAC West play against Clarion on Saturday.
 
The Games
The Scots will host East Stroudsburg at 1 p.m. on Wednesday inside McComb Fieldhouse. Edinboro will play at home on Saturday in the PSAC West opener against Clarion at 1 p.m.
 
Last Time Out
The Scots returned from the holiday break with a 76-67 road victory over Shippensburg on Dec. 30. Edinboro grabbed a lead early in the second quarter and never gave the lead back. Hayley Sims led all scorers with 20 points to go with four rebounds, four assists and a block. Gillian Fisher was a highly efficient 7-of-10 from the field for 17 points while pulling down eight boards and recording two helpers. Maura Suman was the third Scot to score in double figures with 12 points to go with four boards.
 
Offensive Leaders
Sims leads the offense and ranks third in the PSAC with 17.7 points per game while also notching 4.8 rebounds per contest. Morgan Gentile is also averaging double figures with 13.9 points per outing. Gillian Fisher adds 9.8 points per contest shooting 48.7 percent from the field.
 
Charity Stripe
The Scots are shooting 77.7 percent from the free throw line which ranks second in the PSAC and 18th in the nation. Their 16.4 made free throws per game ranks 16th in the nation and they rank 42nd in D-II with 21.1 trips to the line per outing.
 
Block Party
The Scots rank fourth in the PSAC and 26th in the country in blocks per game averaging 4.4 per game. Sims leads the team with 1.1 blocks per game. Gentile and Ava Haddad are each tallying 0.8 blocks per contest.
 
Scouting the Warriors
East Stroudsburg brings a 3-7 overall mark and 1-4 PSAC record into Wednesday's contest. The Warriors are coming off a 73-52 loss to IUP at home on Dec. 30. Carley Adams paced the offense with 12 points. Emily Chmiel added 11 points and six rebounds off the bench. Cassidy Saylor also reached double figures with 10 points.
 
The Warriors are averaging 50.4 points per game while allowing opponents 58.1. They are a -6.5 in the rebounding battle and -0.8 in turnover margin. Izzy Vogel is the leading scorer with 9.2 points per game. She is also the top rebounder at 5.2 per outing. Adams and Saylor each average 6.9 points per game. Gwenn Sabato adds 6.7 points per contest.
 
Scouting the Golden Eagles
Clarion enters play this week 0-11 overall and 0-5 in PSAC play. The Golden Eagles are coming off an 83-56 loss to West Chester on Dec. 30. The Golden Eagles play host to Lock Haven at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
 
Clarion is being outscored 85.0-61.2 on the year. They are a -7.4 on the glass this season and are a -8.0 in the turnover margin. Hannah Wilkerson leads the Golden Eagle offense with 9.6 points per game while grabbing 4.5 rebounds per game. Sadre'a Rougeau chips in 9.5 points per game while Autumn Taylor scores 8.5 per outing.
