Women’s Basketball Set for Three Games in Five Days

Edinboro, Pa. – The Edinboro women's basketball team will close out the first rotation of PSAC West play with three games over the next five days.
 
The Games
Edinboro hosts Seton Hill on Saturday at 1 p.m. inside McComb Fieldhouse. On Monday, the Scots will welcome Slippery Rock to McComb at 5:30 p.m. Edinboro will then hit the road on Wednesday night for a 5:30 p.m. tipoff at California (Pa.).
 
Last Time Out
Edinboro improved to 9-7 overall and 7-4 in the PSAC West with a 70-69 victory over IUP on Saturday. Hayley Sims scored a game-high 28 points including the game-winning 3-pointer with 5.6 seconds to play. Morgan Gentile notched 19 points while Maura Suman tallied 14.
 
Honors & Milestones
Sims not only hit the game-winner Saturday, but with her 19th point which she scored in the fourth quarter Saturday she became the 37th player in Edinboro history to cross over the 1,000-point mark for her career. That along with her 23.5 points per game last week earned her PSAC West Player of the Week honors for the first time this season. Her 17.9 points per game is currently third in the PSAC.
 
Offensive Leaders
Sims is the Scots leading scorer scoring 17.9 points per game. She adds 4.8 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 0.8  blocks per outing. Gentile chips in 14.9 points per game while grabbing 4.1 boards per contest. Gillian Fisher adds 9.2 points and a team-best 5.0 rebounds per game.
 
Scouting the Griffins
Seton Hill is currently 9-8 overall and 6-5 in the PSAC West after dropping a 75-66 decision to IUP Wednesday night. Christiane Frye led the Griffins with 20 points, three steals and three assists. Hallie Cowan notched 13 points while Helene Cowan tallied 12. Sakeria Haralson pulled down a team-high 11 boards to go with seven points.
 
The Griffins average 75.6 points per game while holding opponents to 69.5. Seton Hill holds a +5 margin on the boards and +1 in turnover margin. Frye averages 19.3 points per game as well as 6.5 rebounds. Hallie Cowan adds 12.4 per game while Helene Cowan tallies 12.3 points per outing. Haralson is the Griffins leading rebounder at 8.0 boards per contest.
 
Scouting the Rock
Slippery Rock is 2-12 overall and 2-9 in PSAC play after knocking off Clarion 62-60 on Wednesday. Regan Atkins posted a double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Endya Robinso added 14 points and seven boards. Gabby Jackson also scored in double-figures with 10.
 
The Rock averages 52.8 points per game while allowing opponents 67.8. They have a -9.2 margin on the boards and a -0.9 turnover margin. Atkins leads the offense at 15.9 points per game. She also grabs 4.9 rebounds per game. Kristina Donza is the second leading scorer at 9.9 points per outing.
 
Scouting the Vulcans
Cal enters Saturday with a 13.-4 overall record and 8-3 mark in PSAC play. On Wednesday, they defeated UPJ 89-86 in overtime their second straight overtime contest. Dejah Terrell led the way with 21 points and eight rebounds. Sierra Bermudez and Iyahnna Williams each tallied 19 piotns while Nina Shaw notched 12.
 
The Vulcans score 67.3 points per game while giving up just 61.2. They hold a +4.0 margin on the glass and a +2.4 turnover margin. Terrell leads the offense at 13.5 points per game and is the leading rebounder at 8.5 per contest. Willimas also averages double-figure scoring with 10.3 points per outing. Cal will travel to Mercyhurst on Saturday and then go to IUP on Monday.
