Columbia, Mo. — The Edinboro wheelchair basketball team split four games over the weekend at the University of Missouri this past weekend.
The second game on Friday, against the University of Missouri, started out with a close first half. Missouri held 33-27 advantage at the half. The Fighting Scots battled back, and with four minutes left in the game, Dakarai Moore gave the Fighting Scots their first lead of the half. With another basket right after, Jonathan Suszkiewicz made the score 52-49 Edinboro.
Missouri fought back, but Dakarai Moore scored twice in crucial moments, to lift Edinboro to their fifth win of the season, and first road win 58-56.
Jeremy Evans led the Fighting Scots with 21 points and 5 assists. Moore made 12 points, and Isaiah Johnson also scored in double-figures with 10 points to go with five assists.
After a hard-fought first half in the opener, Southwest Minnesota State led 38-26. The Mustangs took charge in the second half and Edinboro fell with 79-45. Leading the offense with 20 points was Johnson, and Jeremy Evans contributed with 13 points and seven assists.
The opener against the Fighting Illini started with a tough first half where the Fighting Scots managed to score 18 points, but Illinois held a 42-18 lead at the half. Edinboro battled in the second half, putting up 18 points again, but was unable to stop the Fighting Illini, falling 82-36.
Dakarai Moore led the Fighting Scots with 14 points and seven rebounds. Jeremy Evans totaled seven rebounds and five while Jordan McCown added four assists.
In the second game of the day, Edinboro looked to earn another win against the Mizzou Tigers after their 58-56-win Friday.
The first half started out strong and the Fighting Scots came out on top with a score of 28-15. The Mizzou Tigers fought back in the second half scoring 24 points, but when the final buzzer rang the score was 54-39, and Edinboro had earned their sixth win of the season.
The leading scorer for the Fighting Scots was Moore with 16 points and seven rebounds. Johnson was the second-leading scorer with 14 points, and seven assists assists, and Evans added 13 points, along with seven assists, and seven rebounds.
The Fighting Scots are back in action on February 10th when they travel to Ann Arbor, Mich for four games over the weekend.
