Edinboro, Pa. – The Edinboro women's basketball team faces a pair of PSAC road tests this week with trips to Gannon and Pitt-Johnstown.
The Games
Edinboro travels to the Haggerty Family Events Center to take on No. 3 Gannon at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. On Saturday, the Scots travel to Johnstown for a 1 p.m. tipoff against UPJ.
Last Time Out
The Scots are now 12-8 overall and 10-5 in PSAC play after scoring a 63-57 victory over Clarion on Saturday afternoon.
Morgan Gentile led the offense with 19 points to go with seven assists and six rebounds.
Ashten Boggs added 14 points, six boards and four steals while
Hayley Sims chipped in 10 points and eight rebounds.
Honor Roll
Boggs became the second Scot to pull in PSAC West weekly honors with her Defensive Player of the Week nod on Monday. Boggs averaged 14.5 points, to go with 6.5 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 1.0 blocks per game in a pair of PSAC West victories. Against California (Pa.), Boggs drew the defensive assignment on Dejah Terrell. She tallied two steals, a block and then tallied 15 points. Against Clarion, Boggs added 14 points, six rebounds, four steals and a block.
Sims was the other Edinboro player honored by the conference when she was named PSAC West Player of the Week on Jan. 22.
By the Numbers
Edinboro averages 70.3 points per game while allowing 68.0. The Scots are shooting 42.0 percent from the field, 31.1 from beyond the arc and 74.4 from the free throw line. They hold a +3.1 turnover margin and are -2.7 on the boards.
Individual Leaders
Sims paces the Edinboro offense, her 17.0 points per game ranks fifth in the PSAC. She also averages 4.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game. Gentile also average double-figure scoring at 15.1 points per game god for 11
th in the conference.
Gillian Fisher is the Scots leading rebounder at 5.4 per outing to go with 9.4 points per game.
Scouting the Golden Knights
Gannon extended its winning streak to 20 games and pushed their overall record to 23-1 and league record to 15-0 with 69-57 victory over California (PA) on Saturday. Sam Pirosko led the offense with 23 points to go with eight rebounds. Bri Claxon added 22 points and five rebounds.
The Golden Knights average 73.0 points per game and have held opponents to 53.0. They are a +4.2 on the glass and hold a +4.5 turnover margin. Pirosko averages 18.9 points and 7.1 rebounds per game both team-bests. Claxon adds 14.3 points per game.
Scouting the Mountain Cats
UPJ is 13-8 overall and 8-7 heading into this week's action. The Mountain Cats scored a 67-46 victory over Mercyhurst on Saturday. Olivia Fasick led UPJ with 18 points. Hayden Taylor chipped in 15. UPJ travels to Clarion on Wednesday.
The Mountain Cats average 68.6 points per game while allowing 62.9. They are close to even on the boards and in turnover margin. Cassidy Crawford leads the offense with 16.0 points per game as well as pulling down a team-best 7.8 boards per game. Peyton Alazaus chips in 14.2 points per outing an Fasick adds 10.4.
