Edinboro, Pa. – The Edinboro wheelchair basketball team swept a pair of games from visiting Missouri Friday afternoon on the first day of the Boro Shootout.
Game One
The Scots jumped out early and pulled away from Missouri scoring a 60-42 victory. In the first quarter, the Scot defense held Missouri to just six points while the offense tallied 13 points. The Scots outscored the Tigers 18-8 in the second and 19-9 in the third to build a 50-33 lead. Missouri closed the gap but couldn't overcome the Scots wire-to-wire lead.
Jeremy Evans was the Scots leading scorer with 20 points to go with seven rebounds and five assists.
James Pollard put together a triple-double with 17 points, 16 rebounds and 11 assists. Isaiah Johnso also scored in double figures with 12 points.
Game 2
In the second contest, Edinboro built an 18-10 lead after the first quarter. Missouri outscored the Scots in the second 14-13 to cut the halftime deficit to 31-24. It was the third quarter where the Scots separated winning the third quarter 18-5 to take their largest lead 49-29. The Tigers closed the gap in the fourth but the Scots held on for the 57-45 victory.
Pollard had another triple double with 10 points, 11 rebounds and 14 assists. Evans was the leading scorer with 24 points to go with four boards. Johnson added 12 points.
The Scots are back in action on Saturday when they take on the Pittsburgh Steelwheelers at 1 p.m. The Steelwheelers and Tigers will square off in a pair of games at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.
