EDINBORO, Pa. – TheOpenMat.com has released its 2016 Preseason NCAA Division I Individual College Wrestling Rankings, with Patricio Lugo and Austin Matthews leading a contingent of four Edinboro wrestlers showing up in the preseason rankings.

Lugo and Matthews are ranked ninth in their respective weight classes. Lugo, a sophomore, competes at 149 lbs. The 2016 EWL and PSAC Freshman of the Year reached the Round of 12 at Nationals and ended the year with a 32-9 record. He won the PSAC championship at 149 lbs.

Matthews is expected to start the season at 165 lbs. after previously competing at 157 lbs. A redshirt junior, he is a two-time national qualifier who missed a great deal of time in 2014-15 and 2015-16 due to injuries. He would return last January and qualified for Nationals after winning the EWL title. He ended the year with a 12-6 record.

Sean Russell will enter his redshirt sophomore year ranked 14th at 125 lbs. He was also an EWL and PSAC champion and ended the year with a 28-9 ledger after making his first trip to Nationals.

Billy Miller is Edinboro's final ranked wrestler. A redshirt sophomore, he qualified for Nationals and posted a 29-11 record while winning the PSAC title. He is ranked 16th at heavyweight.
