Fighting Scots Seek Vengeance against The Rock Wednesday Night

GAME NOTES: Edinboro | Slippery Rock

EDINBORO PROGRAM

STORYLINE
Edinboro (16-6, 13-5 PSAC West) has clinched a PSAC playoff spot, and in fact the Fighting Scots can finish no worse than fourth in the PSAC West. Slippery Rock, on the other hand, is in a battle with Seton Hill (7-11), Pitt-Johnstown (6-11), and Mercyhurst (5-13) for the final two playoff spots.  After a lopsided loss to California (Pa.), Edinboro has righted itself with back-to-back wins over local rivals Gannon (55-54 in overtime) and Mercyhurst (77-51). The Fighting Scots were dealt a blow when sixth-man Hope Mancini (9.1 ppg.) went down with a broken finger in practice between the two games and is out indefinitely. Slippery Rock had a bye on Saturday and comes off a 70-63 win over Mercyhurst on February 4. That leaves The Rock at 9-12 overall. SRU claimed the first meeting between the two teams in December 66-57.

Edinboro has enjoyed a number of milestones this season -- Stan Swank's 500th win, Laurel Lindsay's 1,000th point. Now Aignee' Freeland is looking to join Lindsay in the 1,000-Point Club. The junior has 991 career points, leaving her nine points shy of becoming the 30th player with 1,000 career points.

EDINBORO QUICK THREE
Aignee' Freeland is nearing 1,000 career points. The York, Pa. native has 991 career points, leaving her nine points away from becoming the 30th player in school history to reach that mark. She is also currently 12th in career rebounds (682). Her 23-point performance at California (Pa.) marked the first time in her career she has scored 20-or-more in three straight games. The 6'3" post player scored 20 points versus Seton Hill after finishing with 29 points at Pitt-Johnstown prior to that. She then scored 16 first half points against Gannon but was shutout in the second half in the upset of the Lady Knights.

The Fighting Scots finished last season second in Division II from beyond the arc connecting on 39.1 percent of their 3-point attempts. Valerie Majewski ranks atop the team in 3-point percentage. The senior guard has shot 34-for-77 (44.2 percent) on 3-pointers ranking second in the PSAC and 15th in Division II. Lauren Hippo also ranks in the top 20 in the nation in 3-point shooting percentage. The junior guard/forward ranks third in the PSAC in 3-point percentage and 18th in the nation. One other Edinboro player with double-digit 3-point attempts is shooting above 40 percent on 3-pointers. Laurel Lindsay is shooting 40.5 percent making 32-of-79 from beyond the arc. The Fighting Scots have made 40 percent or more of their 3-point attempts in 13 of their 22 games.
