The Game Story
  • Edinboro (7-18, 5-16 PSAC West) will honor four seniors as part of Senior Day on Saturday when they host Clarion (7-20, 4-17 PSAC West) in the season finale. Tip-off is set for 3:00 p.m. at McComb Fieldhouse. The Fighting Scots look for a season sweep of the Golden Eagles after posting an 82-66 win at Clarion on January 18.
  • The Fighting Scots will honor seniors Mikael Anderson, Sheldon Brogdon, Malachy Onwudiegwu and Chibunna Ukandu prior to tip-off.
  • Saturday's game will be Edinboro and Clarion's first meeting at McComb Fieldhouse since last year's PSAC Tournament first-round game. The Golden Eagles defeated the Fighting Scots by an 83-69 score.
  • Despite head coach Pat Cleary playing with just seven players in seven of the last eight games because of injuries, his team remained in the PSAC Tournament picture up until last Saturday. The Fighting Scots battled playoff-bound Slippery Rock down to the wire on Wednesday, but came up just short, 64-60.
  • Redshirt junior guard Jaymon Mason scored 28 points against The Rock for his 14th 20-point game of the season. The 6'3" guard, who ranks second in the PSAC and 10th in NCAA Division II with 23.2 ppg., moved into fifth place all-time at Edinboro in career scoring with 1,513 points. He needs 40 points to pass Kenny Tate for fourth all-time. He has scored 579 points this season, good for seventh in a season.
  • Junior guard/forward Maceo Baston and redshirt junior forward Jon Girvin have been welcome additions to Edinboro this year. Baston, a transfer from Southwestern Community College, has started the last eight games, scoring in double digits in six of them, with two 20-point games. Girvin, a member of the football team who joined the team in early December, has started the last 14 games and is Edinboro's leading rebounder at 5.9 rpg. The 6'5" forward grabbed eight rebounds against Slippery Rock after gathering a career-high 13 rebounds at Mercyhurst last Saturday.
  • Clarion is 0-12 on the road this season and 0-1 at neutral sites. The Golden Eagles began the year at 5-4, but have lost 16 of their last 18 contests, including a stretch where they lost 13 in a row.
  • Saturday's contest will feature the sons of two of the top all-time PSAC career scorers. Clarion's Kwame Morton Jr.'s father, Kwame Morton Sr., is second all-time with 2,543 points as a player at Clarion, while Edinboro's Jaymon Mason's father, Tyrone Mason, is 14th all-time with 1,954 points. Mason did that while playing just three seasons at Edinboro.
  • Mikael Anderson, the team's second-leading scorer (13.3 ppg.) and rebounder (5.6), missed the Slippery Rock game due to an injury and has now missed five of the last eight games. Edinboro has lost 51 games due to injuries this season.
