The Game Story
- Edinboro heads out on the road for its next two contests starting on Saturday at Clarion. The Fighting Scots have won eight straight contests to tie their win total from last year following a 94-61 victory over Slippery Rock on Wednesday. They improved to 21-2 overall and 17-2 in the PSAC West. The Fighting Scots are tied with Indiana(Pa.) for first place in the Western Division.
- Over their last eight contests, Edinboro has won by an average of 21.1 points per game. On Wednesday, the Fighting Scots made a season-high 13 3-pointers and tied their season-best of 94 points against The Rock.
- The NCAA released its first set of Division II Regional rankings earlier that day. Edinboro was third in the Atlantic Region. The top eight teams from each region will determine the field for the 2018 NCAA Division II National Championships. The Fighting Scots are currently ranked 13th in the WBCA Division II Top 25 and are 15th in the D2SIDA Top 25 poll.
- Clarion looks to snap a 13-game skid on its Senior Day. The Golden Eagles are currently 7-18 overall and 2-17 in league play. A year ago, the Golden Eagles spoiled Edinboro's Senior Night at McComb Fieldhouse with a 67-59 upset. The win allowed the Golden Eagles to capture the final seed in the PSAC Tournament. It marked the program's first winning season (15-14) since 2010 and its first tournament appearance in four years.
- Clarion comes off a 69-45 loss to IUP on Wednesday. Amesha Harden-Pullium, a former standout at Villa Maria, was the only Golden Eagle in double figures with a game-high 18 points.
- The Fighting Scots have qualified for the PSAC Tournament for the ninth consecutive year. During this stretch, Edinboro has also posted 20-win seasons each of the last eight campaigns. All told, they have gone 187-48 overall over the last eight years.
- Edinboro is averaging 79.2 ppg., good for second in the PSAC and 17th in Division II. They are third defensively in the conference, allowing 59.3 ppg., and rank second in field goal percentage defense with a 35.3 percent mark. The Golden Eagles are scoring 59.9 ppg., which ranks 15th in the PSAC, and are 11th in scoring defense at 67.4 points per game. Opposing teams are connecting on 44.4 percent of its shots against Clarion. That is the last in the conference.
- On December 2, head coach Stan Swank became the all-time winningest basketball coach in PSAC history, after his then-560th career victory over Mansfield, 81-54. In the win, he passed Charles Chronister of Bloomsburg for the most wins all-time by a men's basketball coach in the PSAC. In his 31 years at Edinboro, Swank has gone 575-303 overall and entered the year ranked ninth among Division II coaches with 554 career wins.
- Ciara Rosten was named the PSAC West Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week for the second straight week and fourth time this season earlier this week. Edinboro has received the award six times, with Michelle Jahn and Jontay Walton each earning it once. Rosten recently set Edinboro's season record for blocks shots, and currently has 91. She tied her career-high of seven blocks against Slippery Rock, while adding 11 points and nine rebounds.
- Michelle Jahn has moved within 26 points of reaching 1,000 points for her career at Edinboro. She would become the 27th player to reach 1,000 points. In addition, the junior guard has moved into the top five in career 3-pointers at Edinboro. She has made 180 three's, good for fifth place, and leads Edinboro in 3-pointers this season (48-of-139).
- Jontay Walton (16.7 ppg.), Ciara Rosten (15.7), Michaela Barnes (13.5), and Michelle Jahn (13.3) are each averaging double figures per contest this season. Combined, they are responsible for 59.2 points (74.7 percent) of the Fighting Scots' 79.2 points per game. Against Slippery Rock, they combined for 71 of 94 points.

- No. 17 Edinboro posted a 77-51 win over Clarion, improving to 14-2 overall and 10-2 in the PSAC West, while the Golden Eagles fell to 7-11 and 2-10 in conference play.
- Edinboro held a 36-31 lead at the half after scoring the final seven points of the second quarter. The Fighting Scots extended that run to 13 points in a row with the first six points of the third quarter on three Ciara Rosten layups to go ahead 42-31.
- The Scots ended the third quarter outscoring Clarion, 22-15, for a 58-46 lead. They then outscored the Golden Eagles, 19-5, in the final stanza. They would hold the Golden Eagles scoreless over the final 6:12 of the contest. Edinboro led by as much as 26 points with 71 seconds remaining in the game.
- Edinboro shot 44.8 percent (30-of-67) from the field and made 6-of-17 3-pointers. Clarion was held to 31.7 percent (20-of-63) shooting and went 6-for-25 from beyond the arc. In the fourth quarter alone, the Golden Eagles made only 1-of-14 shots and were 0-for-7 on 3-pointers. The Fighting Scots made 11-of-20 free throws and Clarion connected on 5-of-11 attempts.
- Four Fighting Scots scored in double figures. Michelle Jahn led all players with 19 points and three 3-pointers. Rosten picked up her seventh double-double of the year with 15 points and 15 rebounds, to go with three blocks and three assists. Michaela Barnes also scored 15 points, with 13 coming in the first half. The 5'6" guard shot 6-of-12 from the field. Jontay Walton added 11 points and led all players with seven assists and three steals. Bridgette Shaffer came off the bench for a career-high 12 rebounds, while adding seven points.
- Amesha Harden-Pullium led Clarion with 19 points. Jordan Bekelja added 10 points and eight rebounds.

Edinboro: Stan Swank (Purdue '76) -- 575-303, 31st Year
- Stan Swank is in his 31st season as the Edinboro women's basketball head coach. He has led the Fighting Scots to eight straight 20-win seasons and nine straight PSAC Tournament berths. He has compiled a 187-48 overall record during this period. In total, Swank has had 14 20-win seasons as Edinboro's head coach.
- Swank is the all-time leader in victories among PSAC men's and women's coaches with 575 wins. He entered the campaign with 554 wins, which was the most wins by a women's basketball coach in PSAC history. He then passed former Bloomsburg men's basketball coach Charles Chronister for the men's title in Edinboro's 81-54 triumph at Mansfield.
- Entering the 2017-18 season, Swank ranked ninth in Division II with 554 wins at Edinboro and 41st in the NCAA. As a program, Edinboro ranked 13th all-time in Division II with 779 wins. Over the last five years, he has coached the Scots to a .733 winning percentage, which is 25th in Division II. Swank also ranked 38th in Division II history with a .648 winning percentage.
- In his 31 years at Edinboro, he has led the Fighting Scots to four PSAC championship titles, and ten appearances in the NCAA Division II Tournament. During March Madness, the Fighting Scots have made two Elite Eight appearances, three Sweet Sixteen births, and have made the Round of 32 on four occasions.
Clarion: Jana Ashley (North Alabama '03) – 33-76 overall, 4th Year
- Jana Ashley is in her fourth season as the Golden Eagles head coach. A year ago, she led Clarion to its first PSAC Tournament appearance since the 2012-13 campaign and second in the last nine years.
- The Golden Eagles also ended last year with a 15-14 overall record, marking their first winning record since the 2009-10 campaign.
- Prior to arriving at Clarion, Ashley served as an assistant coach at Iona, George Mason, and Radford. During her 11 seasons as an assistant coach, she was a part of three 20-win teams, including two that received NIT postseason berths.
- She was a four-year women's basketball player at North Alabama.

Scouting the Fighting Scots
- Edinboro will look for its ninth straight win on Saturday at Clarion. A win would tie its longest winning streak of the season, as the Fighting Scots won their first nine contests of the campaign. Edinboro captured its eighth consecutive 20-win season last Saturday with a 63-42 win over Gannon. The Fighting Scots come into Saturday with a 21-2 record and are tied with Indiana(Pa.) for first place in the PSAC West with a 17-2 record.
- The NCAA released the Division II Regional rankings on Wednesday. Edinboro was third in the Atlantic Region, following Virginia Union and IUP. The top eight teams from each region will determine the field for the 2018 NCAA Division II National Championships. In the national polls, Edinboro is 13th in the WBCA Division II Top 25 and is 15th in the D2SIDA Top 25.
- Edinboro has gone 187-48 over the last eight years, with four NCAA Tournament appearances, one Elite Eight appearance, and two Atlantic Regional Championship berths. - Ciara Rosten was named the PSAC West Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week for the second straight week and fourth time this season earlier this week. She recently set Edinboro's season record for blocks shots, and currently has 91. She tied her career-high of seven blocks against Slippery Rock. Rosten leads the PSAC and ranks third in the country in blocked shots per game (4.0), and is also fourth nationally in total blocks. In just two seasons, she has already climbed to third in career blocks with 142. The 6'2" senior averages 15.7 ppg., good for second on the team, and 11.4 rpg., which leads the PSAC and is ninth in Division II. She has recorded 13 double-doubles, tops in the PSAC and 13th nationally. She even ranks second on the team in assists with 75.
- Jontay Walton leads the Fighting Scots in scoring at 16.7 ppg. She ranks third in the PSAC in assists per game (4.3), total assists (99), and steals (61). The 5'5" guard is registering 2.7 steals per game and a 2.06 assist-turnover ratio, both good for fourth in the conference. She has made 41-of-88 3-pointers. Walton contributed 17 points and dished out a game-high six assists vs. Slippery Rock.
- Michelle Jahn added 18 points, seven rebounds, and four assists in the win over SRU. The 5'8" junior has scored 974 points, leaving her 26 shy of becoming the 27th Fighting Scot with 1,000 points. She is averaging 13.3 ppg. Jahn is Edinboro's top 3-point threat with 48 in 139 attempts. She ranks fifth in career 3-pointers made (180) and is fifth in career 3-pointers attempted (506).
- After being named the PSAC West Freshman of the Year in 2016-17, Michaela Barnes has broken out to average 13.5 ppg., including 25 on Wednesday. The sophomore guard is shooting a highly-respectable 47.3 percent from the floor and has made 30-of-59 3-pointers.
- Whitney Allen pulled down a career-high 18 rebounds, eight on the offensive end, against Slippery Rock, and ranks second on the team at 7.4 rpg. Allison Thompson came off the bench to tie her career-high with eight rebounds in 16 minutes.

- Clarion looks to snap a 13-game skid on Saturday. The Golden Eagles are 7-18 overall and 2-17 in the PSAC West. They were picked to finish seventh in the Western Division.
- Jana Ashley is in her fourth season as the Golden Eagles' head coach. She has posted a 33-76 record in her fourth season at the helm. She guided the Golden Eagles to their first PSAC Tournament game last season in her tenure.
- Clarion is averaging 59.9 ppg., which ranks 15th in the PSAC, but is 10th in scoring defense at 67.3 points per game. The Golden Eagles have held all but three opponents to under 80 points this season.
- Erie native and former Villa Maria standout Amesha Harden-Pullium is the only Golden Eagle scoring in double figures with 14.8 points per game. She leads the Golden Eagles in 3-pointers, making 54-of-173, and is second on the team with 35 steals.
- Tracy Wiehe leads Clarion on the glass with 6.5 rpg. and is averaging 1.1 blocks per game. The 6'4" forward is also contributing 9.6 ppg.
- Jordan Bekelja leads Clarion with 79 assists and 39 steals. A 5'6" guard, she contributes 8.9 ppg.
