Shippensburg, Pa. – The Edinboro women's track & field team had a strong showing at the Paul Kaiser Classic hosted by Shippensburg University Friday and Saturday.
Bernadette Zukina ran a 25.25 in the 200-meter to take second. Zukina added a first-place finish in the 400-meter with a time of 55.13 seconds almost two seconds ahead of the second-place finisher.
Maddison Doren ran a time of 12.97 in the 100-meter good for 15
th. Makenzie Huston and
Jacey Cihak also ran the 100 with times of 13.09 and 13.89 respectively.
Eliza Miller was third in the 800-meter crossing the line in 2:20.04. Katie Shope ran a 2:26.56 in the 800 placing 19
th.
Madeline Hammond was the third Scot in the 800 taking 30
th with a time of 2:31.18. Hammond also ran the 1,500-meter taking 25
th with a time of 5:02.36.
Edinboro had a trio of runners in the 5K.
Katie Slimon crossed the line in 18:32.85 to place third.
Jocelyn Wilson was seventh with a time of 18.37.63.
Alexa Trax was ninth checking in with a time of 18:43.66.
Madeline Newark ran the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 14.99 to place second. Huston and Cihak each ran the 400-meter hurdles with Huston taking ninth in a time of 1:08.05 and Cihak earning 11
th with a time of 1:11.79.
Doren posted a long jump of 5.68 meters to take third. Newark landed at 5.08 meters to place 20
th.
Anna Elder broke the Edinboro hammer record for the second week in a row throwing 49.85 meters and placing second. She was 15
th in the discus with a throw of 33.05 meters.
Jillian Kline was 38
th in the discus with a throw of 21.73 meters and 28
th in the hammer at 30.99 meters. Newark also competed in the javelin with a throw of 29.69 meters good for 24
th.
The Scots will have one more tune up ahead of the meet next weekend at the Slippery Rock Last Chance before competing at the PSAC Championships.
